Leaping Lizards was established in September 2002 by Parvinder Jaspal, a qualified teacher, and her partner (and now husband) Tom Hackwood, until then (and occasionally still) an internet consultant.
After 8 years teaching in a North London primary school, Parvinder (or Pav as she’s known), began looking for a new challenge in education. Having always especially loved working with young children, the prospect of setting up a nursery greatly appealed, and when the right premises became available, Pav jumped at the chance. From the start, she knew that finding the right team was the highest priority of all as it is the staff more than anything else, that make the nursery.
Today, as then, the first quality we look for in each new member of staff is a genuine love of young children and a vocational desire to work with them.Leaping Lizards prides itself on offering the same kind of warmth and love found at home so that children do not feel alienated by the nursery environment. We also believe that qualifications and experience count highly, but that the right motivation and attitude are just as important.
We invest in our staff by providing ongoing training, either internally or by sending them on regular external courses. We also encourage staff to pursue higher qualifications and in some cases, subsidise the costs involved.
Adult to child ratios, stipulated by Ofsted, are closely observed at all times, and more often than not exceeded.
Please see our testimonials to find out what parents at the nursery have to say about our staff.
We hope to meet you soon.
Thanks to all the staff. You have been really lovely & we appreciate your support of Evan’s development. He will miss you. Lucie, Andrew & Evan.
